Social Media Internship
The College of Natural Science Marketing Office is looking for individuals with attention to detail to develop social media and varied digital communications for their Social Media Internship position.
The Social Media Intern (paid position) would help promote and advance the mission and priorities of the College of Natural Science by developing and sharing content and positive messages about the College across communications channels.
The Social Media Intern works with the College of Natural Science Social Media Manager, Creative Director, Director of Digital Experience, and the Chief Storyteller to help tell the story of the College including our faculty, research, programs, alums, and students. This position will also produce and post content across social media networks to connect with audiences at MSU and beyond.
This position can extend into the summer and the following academic year.
This is a paid internship.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing social media content: scripts, graphics, short video
- Develop scripts for shorts, stories, and reels
- Assist with social media updates and postings through identified processes
- Ability to take photos, conduct interviews, and produce reels/stories
- Conduct interviews on-camera for short video content
- Assit with content for College of Natural Science entry kiosk
- Ability to follow MSU Branding guidelines and work within MSU brand standards
- Work out of the office at the Natural Science Building about 12-15 hours per week during the academic year
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current MSU student and in good academic status
- Strong interest or work experience in digital communications, marketing, writing, journalism, and/or PR
- Social media experience working with business/organization social accounts, as well as personal accounts
- Basic photography skills
- Basic graphic design skills
- Basic video editing skills
- Experience or interest in creating digital content and using a content management system
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Small project management skills
- Adobe product experience a plus
- Canva experience a plus
- Microsoft planning experience a plus
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement and take initiative and follow establish procedures
- Must work well independently, and as part of a team, demonstrate attention to detail, and be deadline oriented.
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
